Elmo Bed!

Erin bought an Elmo "Bedroom in a Box" set for cheap online; comes with a toddler bed, toy organizer, and table with two stools. Nora loves it, and even wanted to take her nap in the bed today! She handles change really well, probably better than her parents! We weren't expecting to actually use the bed for a few weeks or even months, but she's taken right to it, and might sleep in it tonight if she wants to. Big girl!

Say "Cheese!"

The box was her idea, she keeps climbing into them, the cat has competition now.
These trains were all given to us by our friend Kathleen. You know her as one of my "Best People" at our wedding (she wore the tux).

The wooden trains and toddler-sized table with drawers are all on long-term loan, we're the third family to receive them. When Nora's grown out of them, Kathleen will pass them along again!

The electric railroad in front (On3 scale) was something that she found tossed-away by someone else. There are minor little defects in a number of things that would add up to frustration in one that knew little about model railroads (like that you can buy replacement rail-joiners for about a buck for a box of fifty), but that are easily fixed by someone with a box of spare parts in the basement......

Thank you Kathleen!

Trip to Ming's

Last night we went to the local Chinese restaurant, Ming's, for dinner. It was pea-soup foggy all the way there and back, but we made it ok. On the way home, Nora was a total spaz - we had expected her to maybe fall asleep since we didn't even leave the restaurant until it was bed time, but NOOOOO. It was an interesting ride: at one point I made a crack that it was "Headless Horseman" weather. Erin didn't take kindly to that remark, especially given that she was driving (her night vision is better than mine). A few minutes of silence later, Nora starts shrieking like she's possessed, then giggles and says "Monkey! Funny! Ha ha!" Erin and I laughed, but it did scare the hell out of us, and I did remark that if she does that later in the middle of the night, I'd crap my pants. "Its bad enough that time a few months ago she rolled over on Elmo and I could quite loudly a strong male voice telling me "I love kisses!" That took me a while to recover from before going back to bed, since my first thought wasn't "WHATWAS...oh it's just Elmo." It was more like "WHATWASTHATISTHEREASTRANGEMANINTHEHOUSEANDDOESHEHAVEANAXEANDOHMYG....oh wait, its just Elmo." Needless to say, no more battery operated toys in the crib at night.

Here's a picture of Nora from the restaurant:

Potty Time!

Guess who used the potty last night to pee, and pooped in it tonight?

That's right, Ms. Nora Leigh has used the potty twice! Woo!

How simple was it? Ridiculously simple, and it was her idea too.

There aren't any pictures, in case you're wondering. Eww.
