Nora Appleseed

Did I mention that Nora loves apples, and apple picking? We went to Treworgy's today like we did two years ago, this time just the three of us.

Tubby Talk

September 29th, 2011

Nora came-home yesterday with a "Bucksport Junior Deputy" badge (sticker) on her chest yesterday; the daycare had a visit from one of the local officers to teach the kids about proper bike safety. I thought that was kind of neat how the daycare interacts with the local community.

She also gets HOMEWORK! It's voluntary, and simple things like keeping track of books read, or having discussions about food during dinner that coincide with a project they're working on (are we eating foods that bears would eat?). Its kind of neat.

Did I mention that she had her  first field trip last week? If not, my bad, been busy! The daycare took them all by bus - with car seats attached - to pick apples! Nora had  fun, and apparently ate something like 4 apples while she was there! She really, really loves apples.

Tonight I hope to post a video that Erin took last night, its a long one!

Nora is definitely 'testing her boundaries.' Translation: she's being bratty!

Updates to follow.

I'm planning a BBQ on Sunday for anyone that can make it; we're not doing anything big or fancy, but anyone that can make it and wants to come is more than welcome to come up! We're doing "pot luck bbq" so bring whatever you would like to eat and share, and we'll have cake after we're done eating!

Bring a chair! Might want to bring an umbrella too (ugh, weather), in which case we'll just go in the house.

August 30, 2011

Just a quick update: Nora's started a new daycare this week and seem to be adjusting well. We really couldn't afford to pay for her daycare all summer, and we enjoyed having her home with us; having dropped the old daycare for the summer, we decided to see if one of the closer day-cares to the new house was open, and we were able to get in! Yay! It's really nice, and we know Nora will make new friends soon.

Oh, and she talks ALL THE TIME now. Oh, and by the way.....

Erin will be turning 30 this coming Sunday,
so wish her a Happy Birthday!

But if you buy her any black balloons or make cracks about how sore her butt would be from birthday spankings, or buy a fire permit for her birthday cake, she will find you and go all "Dick Cheney Duck Hunting" on you, or something. You were warned!

Bucksport Waterfront

Spent some time on the waterfront (more picts on my other blog) this weekend with the family; Grammy Tina was able to come visit and we took her along too!

Didn't get a lot of pictures of Ms. Nora, she was pretty pooped and it was just about nap time. The day before though, the three of us went just before sun-down, and she was a major hoot. What's that? Music from someone's patio? "Gotta dance!" and she did!

Nora Visits Ethan

This week, Erin, Nora, and Grammy Tina went to Massachusetts to visit Nora's Aunt Emily, Uncle Jeremy, and Cousin Ethan, who moved back to New England earlier this month from Mississippi!

Bucksport Bay Festival

Tonight the three of us went down to the Bucksport Bay Festival, a local yearly event that includes tours of boats, dough-boys, and fireworks!

Bucksport has a beautiful shorefront boardwalk where the events are staged. There were all kinds of bands playing, lots of people; we had ice cream and a doughboy, Mommy bought Nora an inflatable Spongebob, and we watched fireworks! Nora even had some dance-time (video below)!

USCG Cutter "Tackle"

The USS John L. Hall

I like that they kept the old railroad right-of-way to the restored train depot.

Steam-powered MV Patience

In the long tradition of all great Maine events big and small, this one is of course "sponsored" by Allen's Coffee Brandy.

That's pretty much all we have pictures for, the batteries pooped-out on us in the middle of that last dance, about an hour or more before the fireworks even began. Meh, it would have been too dark probably anyway. They were good fireworks though for such a small community. We had fun, and Nora enjoyed herself. She also stayed up WAAAAAAY past bed-time and was anxious to get to bed when it was all over.
