Children's Museum

Today we visited the Children's Museum here in Bangor. It's nice, a little pricey though. Here's some highlights:

April 16th, 2010

Erin took Nora to walk-in care a couple days, the cough and snot situation hadn't improved much over the last month. The doctor still thinks it's nothing much to worry about, but went ahead and prescribed an antibiotic since he agreed that it's been lingering far too long.

Nora's spending more time on her hands and knees, which is an improvement over the military crawl, and is now able to prop herself up on her knees to grab at things higher than the floor - such as stuff left on the edge of the couch, and is also attempting to pull herself up onto the couch, or at least to standing. She's back to being able to stand without our assistance if we put her in a standing position and give her something to grab onto; shouldn't be long before she's puttering around on two legs! Olivia, look out!

Our daughter also has this game she plays with Erin. I can look at Nora and say "da da" and many times she'll look at me and also say "da da." She knows who we are too - if Erin says, where's da da? Nora will look at me. If I say, where's momma? or where's kitty? Nora will look at each of them.

But...if Erin looks at Nora and says "ma ma. say ma ma." Nora will look at her, grin, and say "da da." It may be my fault for encouraging it by laughing maniacally every-single-time. My bad.

I'd also like to remind people to send us 4x6 photos of themselves or their families, so that we can add them to Nora's baby photo album - her own personal album. It's drool and chew-proof, so you don't have to worry about that either. I'd also like letters to Nora for later in her life, written by our family and friends, to add to her baby books and collection. You can put them in an envelope and seal them, if you'd like them to remain private for Nora, and even put an opening date if you want. Be creative!

This second picture was taken at Grammy's. "What do you mean I'm not supposed to be in Grammy's cupboards?" Lately, everything that isn't one of her toys fascinates her more than her toys.

April 6th, 2010

Erin told me tonight that while she was on the phone with her mom, that Nora started picking herself up from a military-crawl, to actually being on her hands and knees. "It won't be long until she's pulling herself up on things" Tina is reported to have said, after which Erin noted that Nora did just that to the couch!

We're also pretty close to agreeing on what's considered Nora's "First Word." We've been reluctant to simply say "oh, that sounds like mumma or dadda", since she's been able to vocalize for a while; we had decided to wait until it seemed obvious she was tying what she was saying to the thing it belonged (looking at daddy and going "Da-da", or looking at mommy and going "ma-ma"). Well, the last couple days have told us that the closest she's come to doing that so far is attempting to say the word "Kitty" while looking at Olivia. Further proof that Nora is absolutely crazy about that stupid cat.

April 3rd, 2010

Today was beautiful, so we went for a walk!

"Yay! I like being outside!"

Olivia: "HELP ME!"
(She Who Destroys Furniture hates being outside...)

(make sure you actually OPEN this picture so you can get a good laugh at Olivia's expense)

"Oh, the shame."

And a shot of Nora reading yesterday afternoon:
