Taken at home this morning:

Nora loves books! We've been putting her bigger board books on the bottom shelf; her smaller ones are in her play area for easier access. She's been making a beeline across the living room lately though to get at the others. In just the last few days, she's made incredible progress in mobility, and now, as you see in the background, we have to actually use the baby gate because she's made it into the hallway to play with the cat toy out there.

I created a barricade to keep her out of the DVD's, she likes pulling those out too. This is a picture of her breaching the defenses:

Super Nora!

We've had a crib for Nora since before she was born, but haven't utilized it all that much as she spent her first month in the hospital (the period they sleep most often), and after that we co-slept as much as possible. She did use it the first few months until she was large enough so that I didn't worry about squishing the problem is reversed: she's big enough to drive US crazy! Smacks in the head, headbutting, general "hey leave me alone" annoyances. Plus, we think she's ready for her own space. So, Erin is trying to move her into the crib, a few hours at a time. Start there, move to bed if she's inconsolable. It's been difficult, but this week is the one to do it in, as Erin's off from school for vacation. As such, I'm sleeping in the living room on the couch (thank you Tina for the furniture) so that I can get some sleep for class. The situation may be reversed in two weeks, when Erin is at work and I'm on Spring Break. Don't know yet. I can't breast feed.

The girls are better, Nora's still a little congested but they both feel and sound much better.

Erin's on vacation, so Nora's getting more mommy-time, and vice-versa.

Here's some pictures!

I call this one "Third Generation Stephen King Fan"

"Mommy, what's so funny?"

Daddy made turkey burgers for dinner...which Erin says degenerated into a picture we will call "Fistful of Ketchup." Needless to say, Nora loves ketchup.

February 13th, 2010

Erin and Nora have been sick the last couple days; Nora was sent-home on Thursday with a fever, which has gone both up and down since. At times she's just been completely exhausted, content with a long nap, or quietly laying on the floor watching Shelley Duvall's Bedtime Stories. She hasn't had much appetite, but has been eating a little. Mostly nursing though, still her preferred method for attaining fluid as long as mommy's around.

I entitle this picture "Sick Day."

Tonight she has a bit more of an appetite, and we introduced her to cheesy scalloped potato (loves it) and chocolate pudding (sugarsugarsugar).
