Pizza!

Last night, Nora ate her first pizza! It was also her first tomato sauce too; cheese and breads she's eaten before. How'd it go? Erin had to keep telling her to slow down! Nora LOVES pizza! Big surprise there right?

Erin made it, using a wheat dough from Hannaford. It's good, unlike anything you'd get in a pizzeria, but still really good. No frozen pizzas for our baby!

Random Picture from yesterday that has nothing to do with pizza:

It was taken seconds before Olivia, not Nora, knocked it down while trying to scratch herself behind the ears. Or mark her territory with her face. Not sure which.

Birthday II : The Sequel

We had a little gathering at Tina's this past weekend to both celebrate Nora's birthday, and the successful removal of her cast! Woo!

Freeeeeee-Biiiiiiiiirddd Yeaaaaa

Nora's cast is off! Woo! She took it like a trooper too: didn't fuss, cry, or make a scene at all. Only got upset once and only for a second or two. Doctor removing her cast said that she's probably in the top 10 of his all time best patients having their cast removed. Hurray!

She's adjusted quite well apparently: Erin told me that Nora's been bouncing a little in her jumper, using her legs (which she did straight out of the cast, to everyone's surprise I think) as much as possible. Lighter, happier baby!

Addendum: you may be interested to note that I swapped-out the monitor with one I was given a while ago and had in the basement; it seems to have corrected the problem I had with dark images and overcompensating for them when "fixing" the pictures.

Four more days until the cast is removed! Woo!

Three day weekend! Woo!

Huge Sea Monkeys! Woo!

Anyway, Nora has been eating solid food for a while, in the sense that some of what she's eating hasn't been mashed to a pulp and fed to her with a spoon, but up until recently it consisted of bananas, cheeries, and baby Goldfish crackers. Erin introduced her to little bites of pork recently, very stringy and tender (and tasty), and tonight we were feeding her bits of our broccoli, which she really seemed to enjoy. This isn't even necessarily our idea either - she's been quite insistent upon feeding herself as much as possible, and has grabbed at spoons for months. Try to feed her=may not work. Put it in front of her, let her grab it herself=works much better.

Erin bought her some barrettes tonight, Nora's hair is getting long! And the difference was stunning, she's such a little girl now, not just a baby.

I'll have more pictures tomorrow, after I do some camera shopping.

January 12th, 2010

Nora and Erin spent an extended weekend with Grammy Tina in Waterville, I stayed behind to work on some projects, play with the kitty, and get ready for school on Monday. Erin decided to stay a bit longer, so I still haven't seen them since Saturday night, and probably won't until late tonight - I have class until 8 pm! But on the bright side - it's only every third week I have to be on campus by 8 am, otherwise I don't have to be here until 11, which will be great.

Grammy Tina sent me some pictures from this weekend (thank you!).

Silly baby, always so photo-ready.

The Book, Year One

This will be my last entry before creating a book of the blog outlining Nora's First Year.

I'd like to thank our wonderful friends and family for their continued and unconditonal support over the last year-and-a-half. Knowing that Nora and our family have such an incredible network, fills me with a sense of hope and peace that before Nora, I didn't think I'd ever find. I know that regardless of what may happen in the future, my daughter will grow-up surrounded by happy, caring people, and will want for nothing. Thank you again.
